Umoo Terms of Service

Welcome to Umoo (“the Platform” or “Service”). Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the Platform. By using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Service Overview

Umoo is an open-source enterprise IoT device management platform providing:

  • Device registration, management, and monitoring
  • Application deployment with rollout strategies
  • WireGuard mesh networking
  • Real-time monitoring and alerting
  • Remote terminal access
  • Multi-tenant management

The Platform is available as a managed cloud service at umoo.yun and can also be self-hosted on your own infrastructure.

2. Account Registration

2.1 Requirements

  • You must provide truthful, accurate, and complete registration information
  • You must be at least 16 years old
  • One account per person or entity

2.2 Account Security

  • You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials
  • You must notify us immediately upon discovering unauthorized use
  • We are not liable for losses caused by credential compromise

3. Acceptable Use

3.1 Permitted Use

  • Using Platform features as documented
  • Performing legitimate device management via API and CLI
  • Modifying and distributing Platform code under the open-source license

3.2 Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

  • Use the Platform for illegal activities
  • Access another tenant’s data or devices without authorization
  • Intentionally disrupt the Platform or other users’ experience
  • Reverse-engineer the Platform (except open-source components)
  • Abuse API rate limits in ways that affect service stability
  • Distribute malware or use the Platform to attack third-party systems

4. Service Tiers

4.1 Free

  • Up to 5 devices on umoo.yun
  • All core features included
  • Community support (GitHub Issues)

4.2 Pro

  • Up to 100 devices
  • Priority support
  • Advanced monitoring and custom dashboards

4.3 Enterprise

  • Unlimited devices
  • Dedicated support with SLA
  • Custom integrations and on-premise deployment
  • SSO/SAML authentication

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Open Source License

The Platform’s core code is released under an open-source license. You may use, modify, and distribute it within the license terms.

5.2 Trademarks

“Umoo” and the Umoo logo are our trademarks. You may not use them to imply affiliation or endorsement without written permission.

5.3 Your Content

Device data, configurations, and content managed through the Platform belong to you. We claim no ownership over your data.

6. Data & Privacy

Data collection and use are governed by our Privacy Policy. For self-hosted deployments, your data resides on your own infrastructure. For our managed service, only device registration information is stored on our platform.

7. Disclaimers

7.1 Service Availability

The Platform is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Availability of self-hosted deployments depends on your infrastructure.

7.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed fees paid in the preceding 12 months
  • For Community (free) users, we assume no liability

7.3 Device Management Risk

Operations performed on IoT devices through the Platform (firmware updates, configuration changes, remote commands) are at your own risk. We recommend canary deployments to mitigate batch operation risks.

8. Changes & Termination

8.1 Service Changes

We reserve the right to modify or update Platform features. Significant changes will be communicated in advance.

8.2 Termination

  • You may stop using the Platform and remove your deployment at any time
  • We may suspend or terminate your service if you violate these terms
  • After termination, you must stop using commercial features but may continue using the open-source Community edition

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China. Disputes shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation; failing that, either party may submit the dispute to a court of competent jurisdiction.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Updated terms will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
